Into The Glow
STAY UPDATED
Currently with beta readers, Into The Glow is a soft-sci-fi novel that travels through grief & trauma, betrayal & forgiveness, and family & love—all on a planet 100 light years away from home.
In this world, humans are the other kind.
California Cambeiro is a first-generation human born on an exoplanet orbiting an ultra-cool dwarf star a hundred light years away from her people’s solar system. For her Abuela, home is Earth. For her parents Norah and Jaime, home is Space. Cali’s not so sure where they belong, but she hopes it to be the flourishing flora of light they call Dechothea.
Besides, where else would they go?
To the dwindling masses, anywhere but here. Hostile wildlife. Deadly flame rain. A native people looming seventy-five miles west. Project Ascent is a well supported initiative, and the pressure is on for Cali and her best friend Bree—the only two biological scientists brave enough to take on the wilderness for much-needed minerals—to prove that this Plan B should be their Plan A.
Everything changes during a routine field excursion when an animal destroys Cali and Bree’s protective gear…with flame rain clouds closing in. Though contact with flame rain means certain death for humans, Cali makes it out alive. And now she’s on her own.
Or so she thought.
On the Dechothean Council’s order, Cali travels to the city they call Radia while also traveling through her own trauma and grief. There, she expects to learn the secrets of her adaptation but uncovers much worse. With the help of an unlikely native ally, Cali fights for her original mission, her life, and humanity’s fate—
but should she fight for any of it at all?
